Established at the Jetty in 1905, the Pier Hotel sits on the south-east corner of High and Camperdown Streets and has long been one of the Coffs Coast’s most recognisable and iconic landmarks.
In the early days, the hotel catered mostly for weary travellers, who journeyed by land and sea up and down the Coast, by providing a comfortable bed and place to enjoy a hearty meal.
It was also a favourite holiday destination for tourists from as a far afield as Bellingen and Dorrigo who came to enjoy all the attractions to the Coffs Coast had to offer.
Following the hotel’s destruction by fire in December, 1914, the then proprietor Mr William E Mann rebuilt the hotel to cater for sea-loving visitors and for those who wished to contemplate a morning plunge in the sea.
Indeed the hotel’s manager of the day, Mr W Taylor owned a couple of motor boats and conducted tours to the prolific snapper grounds where good catches were said to be the rule.
This friendly, personable service has remained the cornerstone of this great hotel for more than a century, ensuring The Pier Hotel is still one of the most popular local pubs on the Coffs Coast.
Current owners and locals, Warren & Kay Skinner embrace the Hotel’s rich history and iconic location and have invested significantly into facility upgrades including the newly refurbished boutique accommodation and the brand new Cellar Lounge set to open in late May, among other modernisations.
They have paid great attention to refurbishing the Hotel to boast showcase the original vintage, boutique and coastal warmth and to create a wonderful place to stay, enjoy a meal and share a laugh with friends.
